Near the mouth of the Bering River, a late winter sunrise turns the beach grass on Kanak Island to gold.
— The Lost Coast in winter was a lesson in extremes. It was awesome and wonderful and terrible and amazing. And when it was beautiful, it was the most beautiful place in the world.
