Stone trail tread

To traverse cliffs above the Cotahuasi river, deep in a vertical-sided canyon, Inca and Wari stoneworkers built walls and fitted stones into the vertical cliffs to create a smooth tread. I don't know if the missing sections were built of stone that has since collapsed, or spanned by wooden bridges, but I suspect the latter since there don't seem to be collapsed stone rubble piles.
