Sculpted peat

Waves washing peat fibers eroded from arctic shores sculpt strange arches and pillars like these. Peat, like coal, oil, and natural gas, is a for of fossilized carbon - sequestered from the atmosphere until something exposes it to oxygen. Vast quantities of peat is being torn up and rotted away into CO2 and methane along the arctic coasts.
