This vista hardly says "glacier" but ice underlies these hills, even to the forest beyond. The rocks are usually only a few feet thick. Where they insulate the ice it resists melting until it becomes a hilltop, when it crumbles away and melts all the faster. Read more about our Life on Ice expedition.
