Leaf entombed

To me it looks like this leaf was captured trying to escape - fingers of ice swirled in from all directions and seized it in an eternal embrace. Actually the leaf lay half buried in silty mud until ice grew around it. A dry cold wind sublimated the ice and blew away the silt to reveal this complex scene.
