Crossing icy tide flats

Hig carries his packraft across the icy tide flats at Controller Bay.
— Freeze up is the most difficult season. Deep snow and thin ice kept us pinned to the coast, where we walked through storm after storm - four in nine days. Hig stuffed armfuls of beach grass into his pack, using it to line his raft for warmth on the chilly crossings.
