Described here are all hardrock mining exploration projects in Alaska that had onsite exploration activity in 2010, 2011, or 2012. Active prospects and claims without significant current exploration activity have been omitted, but number in the hundreds. Background information found on this page comes primarily from mining company websites and press releases. Detailed information on 2010 exploration comes from the "Alaska's Mineral Industry 2010" report prepared by the AK DNR. Geological information and some project locations come from mindat.org which is an online free database of mining information. The locations of actual claims were usually established with Alaska Mapper, an online mapping/land use tool provided by the state.
