In the cold and windy spring of 2008, flashes of sun were rare and precious. This one hit us just between rain squalls, as we made our way along the Alaska Peninsula's Pacific Coast. The flash of sun lasted only about 30 seconds, so I had to be quick to compose and click the shutter. The brightly lit kelp jumped out at me, inspiring this low angle.
